5 Rules To Choose A Unque Salon Name that Attracts Like a Magnet:
You want to attract clients to YOUR door, and not lose business to another salon. Pick a name that is easy to remember and fits your personality, your character, your skills, YOUR business. Keep it easy to spell. You don’t want to confuse your clients with awkward spelling that’s hard to find on the web.
2. Keep it Short
Choose a business name that is catchy and quick. Don’t pick something that will be a run-on mouthful. You want to be able to get your regulars to tell their friends, family and co-workers that they got a great hair style or other beauty service at “Your Salon Name”. Word-of-mouth marketing is the most effective way to get more and more people into your shop.
One to three words usually does it. Make it unique – make it YOURS!
3. Have an Emotional Connection
Choosing a name that has a strong emotional connection to your salon will make your first time visitors feel welcome and more likely to become regulars. Think of it this way, would you prefer to go to a shop named “Gina’s Place” or “Pamper Yourself Salon”?
“Gina’s Place” is ok, since it mentions your name. Even better, “Pamper Yourself Salon” makes your clients feel good. That’s because it focuses on their needs, and gives your salon name an emotional touch.
4. Add a Visual Element
When someone who wants to get in shape see Nike’s slogan “Just Do It”, it draws their attention.
The same thing applies to your salon name. You want to think of a name that will make your clients hold a positive image in their mind when they see your shop’s name. The stronger the image in their mind, the more likely they will think of your salon when they need services and give you lots of referrals.
Choose your colors wisely! Having colors on your marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers and business cards shows your clients who you are and how you can make them feel.
If you choose colors that are bright and colorful, they will think that your business is an upbeat place and they are there to have fun.
If your colors are subdued, they will think that your shop is a place where they can relax and unwind. They can forget about the stresses of everyday life and just melt into your chair.
Remember – it’s all about the atmosphere and experience you want to create for your clients.
5. Say What You Do
Do you have a specialty that you want to show off to your clients? Do you do color better than anyone else? If that’s true, you’ll want people to rave about it. MAKE IT KNOWN – in your salon name.
Mentioning a skill or two where you are truly talented will give your clients a message that says “I do this really well, come to my shop and see what I can do for you!” This way, people will be able to remember your shop’s name AND know what your special talents are. Most importantly, referrals will know what you do best.
