As mask mandates are being lifted across the country, it can be difficult to navigate what is right for you and your salon suite business going forward. According to the new guidelines from the CDC, “Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.” And once you are fully vaccinated, “You can resume activities without wearing a mask or staying 6 feet apart, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.” So what does this mean for you as a business owner? This is a difficult road to navigate but we are here with you every step of the way.
The most important thing is to follow your state and local guidelines and make sure your business mask policy reflects that. Maintain communication with your clients and let them know you are adhering to state and local guidelines regarding masks and safety precautions in your salon.
If you live in a community where mask mandates have been lifted but you are still not comfortable working maskless or working on maskless clients, you have the right to refuse service and make your own rules as a Suite Elite Member and solo business owner. Again, keeping your clients informed on this policy is key and letting them know that safety is your number one priority. We recommend sending out a communication to your clients letting them know your policies going forward.
If your state and local guidelines are following the new CDC guidelines but you still aren’t sure how your clients will feel, you can always reach out individually or send out an email or text to clients to ask them what their level of comfort is. A simple question when they book could be “do you prefer your stylist to wear a mask? Do you prefer to wear a mask while in the salon?”
