Cosmetologist Advice: What is YOUR MAP “Mission – Action – Promise”?

Cosmetologist Advice from Salon Plaza for Cosmetologists Who Want To Succeed in the Beauty Industry:

Are YOU living the life of an entrepreneur? Roger Hamilton’s 3 ways to tell for sure make a lot of sense.

Overlook the fact that he’s handsome, and hear his message…

1. Are You on a Mission?

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing.”

~ Helen Keller

If your answer is YES! then you
have made a promise to yourself to achieve something and intend to keep it. You
know your WHY
and are on a bold quest to fulfill the commitment you made.

Your VEHICLE for this journey is your passion for some aspect of the beauty industry: hair – nails – skin…

Where Are You on this Journey?

    • In cosmetology school?
    • Ready to get licensed?
    • Working as a salon employee or booth renter?
    • Already a salon owner?

The deciding factor is not where you are in this Journey – What matters is your commitment to your Quest.

“If you want it and believe you can have it, you will.”
~ Dr. Walter Russell, Painter, Sculptor, Author

Wanting to be an independent beauty professional and own your own space – and believing you can – is what we are talking about here.

Now on to question 2:

2. Do You Take Action in a 3-Month Cycle?

This secret to success is to throw away “yearly plans” and think and act in a 3-month cycle. Even if you’re an employee or booth renter now, you can start thinking and acting in 90-day cycles – an “entrepreneurial cycle”.

Here’s How to Take Action in a “3-Month Cycle”:

  1. Cosmetologist Advice: Salon Plaza own a salon planTake out a full sheet of paper right now. (Just do it!)
  2. Write today’s date on the top – your start date
  3. Look at your calendar and find 3 months from today – you can pick the nearest Friday or Saturday if you prefer. Put that date on your paper next to today’s date.
  4. Write down 1 to 3 goals (no more than 3!) you plan to achieve in the next 3 months.
  5. Choose the most important one. Below that, write down the steps you must take to accomplish it.
      • What people and resources will you need to make it happen?
      • What obstacles must you overcome and how will you do it?
      • How will you know when you have accomplished it?
      • How you will celebrate your win – this gives you momentum for the next 3-month cycle.

Go through the same process for another goal or two for this cycle.

When you connect goals to action in 3-month cycles, everything will change for you. Your confidence and credibility will increase dramatically.

3. Do You Offer a Unique Promise?

Are you known as the go-to authority for specific problems for a defined group of people? That’s your “market niche.”

Your niche will be based on a combination of factors, such as your passion, skills, experience, and location. Gaining authority in your niche begins with the decision to stay focused on a particular set of problems and their solution.

This is how you will become the provider of choice for those who need, value and can afford your services.

What is your Unique Selling Promise?

This unique skill set together with your irresistible offer becomes your Unique Selling Promise.” Based on this Promise, you can build trust, engagement, and authority with your chosen community.

It starts by defining who and what you stand for.

As Roger says in his video:

“Being an authority allows you to be the author of your own story. Until you make that stand, you’re only a part-time player in someone else’s story.”

The moment you do, there can be no more excuses or inaction. You’re on the journey. As a beauty professional, this is how you will become a lighthouse for others to see their way.
